@notalover – it’s the size of a dog that makes an attack dangerous. A German Shep, lab or retriever could be just as dangerous to a young child (when you compare it to a dachshund or chihuahua)

they may not be aggressive very often but the point is (i think) that when they do lose their temper they can be so dangerous, especially to a young child.

Oh lord. On second thoughts, forget UCK. Too many ghetto dog examples. Just go straight to game-dogs.com. Pit Bulls are not heavy set blue grey dogs which will obviously tire before running to their owner’s letter box, just as easily as a British Bulldog. They are simply working dogs, and of athletic builds.

That’s because you’re NOT actually looking at a real Pit Bull here. The dog in the picture is ugly, but he is NOT at all an American Pit Bull Terrier. Or Staffordshire for that matter. He is an “American Bully” which are realistically nothing more than a Pit Bull crossed with god knows what, in order to create a certain “look”. If you would like to know what a REAL Pit Bull looks like, type in Gr Ch Jeep ROM, or a name like Colby or Sorrells, or registries like ADBA or even UKC. Putting up pictures of a dog which does NOT fit the Pit Bull standard is simply adding to the confusion of what a REAL Pit Bull actually is. Then you might even agree that the REAL Pit Bull is truely an impressive looking canine.

Everyone consider pitbulls bad dogs based on what they hear and see on tv or in papers.But i personally think it all depend on how you raise your pet because no pitbull is ever born just ready to be a killer….So dont single out only pitbulls because they are good dogs if you rasied them the right way

Why dont politicians stop pushing the fear conciousness crap about pittbulls? is it because theyre americans or is it because theyre pittbulls, how rediculously stupid like the comment made by mike the moron saying they are like wild tigers, as though they are lurking behind a tree waiting to kill someone. The most dangerious breeds are lawers and politician. We should put a ban on these breeds!!!!!

OK, so I own a red nose pit and a blue nose pit/boxer mix. My red nose is sort of dog agressive and I know this, so I walk him later on in the evenings and keep him away from smaller dogs. I have taken him to training and try to socialize him but it hasnt worked. But i know this, and I take actions to protect myself, my dog and others. He will never hurt a person, so thats why I feel that there is still hope.
I try to understand others concerns especially those that have been or know someone that has been attacked by a pit, but this is not always the case. Other dogs bite as well. I understand the ban on a person that has already proven themselves unable to care for their dog. Also an earlier post mentioned something about age, that is also a good idea.
There has to be a medium, and killing hundreds maybe thousands of dogs (since I’m sure that Hawaii is not the only only trying to pass this ban) is not the answer.
